USDA-APHIS Small Pet Welfare Symposium
This symposium hosted by the USDA-APHIS is for breeders, attending veterinarians, brokers, and regulatory officials. The objective of the symposium is to address animal health and welfare concerns for small pet species, including guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and sugar gliders. Guest speakers will cover a wide range of health and welfare issues in these species, with a special focus day on E. cuniculi and its impact on the guinea pig pet breeding industry.
Registration for the symposium is free and the two days of learning will be offered in person or virtually! We also hope to offer Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) credits for DVMs at this meeting. If you have any further questions, please contact centerforanimalwelfare@usda.gov
